Before you start

A simple setup with the right expectations.

OBDPhone® covers generic engine and emissions diagnostics.

Airbag, ABS, coding and manufacturer functions are not guaranteed.

Always save fault codes before clearing them.

Installation

Six clear steps.

Complete them in order for a reliable first connection.

01

Locate

Find the OBD2 port

Look beneath the steering wheel, around the fuse cover or near the centre console.

  • Identify the 16-pin trapezoidal connector.
  • Do not remove screwed panels or force a cover.
02

App

Install Car Scanner ELM OBD2

Download the official app from the App Store or Google Play.

  • The standard version is enough for this guide.
  • Grant Bluetooth access when requested.
03

Connect

Plug in OBDPhone®

Switch the ignition off, align the connector and insert it straight without force.

  • The device must not obstruct the pedals.
  • A power light confirms supply when available.

Ignition

Switch the vehicle on

Turn the ignition on or start the engine if the app requires live data.

  • Park in a ventilated area.
  • Never run an engine in a closed garage.
05

Bluetooth

Select the adapter in the app

Choose Bluetooth LE and the OBDPhone® adapter from Car Scanner settings.

  • Do not pair through phone settings unless the app instructs you.
  • Keep the phone close during the first connection.
06

Read

Read and save the codes

Run the engine scan and capture every code before considering an erase.

  • A code is a diagnostic lead, not a part to replace.
  • Clear codes only after repair or a justified check.
!

A fault code is not a complete diagnosis.

Stop safely if the engine light flashes or the vehicle loses power, smokes or makes an abnormal noise. Refer to the vehicle manual or a qualified professional.

Common questions

The adapter is not visible+

Check power, Bluetooth permission and the adapter type selected inside the app.

The app connects but shows no data+

Confirm vehicle compatibility, ignition status and the connection profile.

Can I clear a code immediately?+

Save the code and its context first. Clearing does not repair the cause.
